I received a rebate from my Energy company in the amount of $325 for the installation of an energy-efficient home furnace. Do I need to report this rebate on my taxes as income?
I paid ~2400 for the furnace and its installation. Will I be able to use 30% of that entire $2400 as a tax credit. Thanks for your advice!
1. the rebate reduces what you paid.
2. Your 30% credit would be based on $2075. Max of $622.50 If you pay that much or more in tax, you would get the credit (unless you used it in 2009).
You also must have the manufacturer certification that the furnace is high end. Frankly, $2400 doesn’t sound high end.

Loft Insulation – Make Your Home Energy Efficient With Proper Loft Insulation Measures
Loft insulation is the insulating process that comes handy enormously in saving energy. As we are becoming aware of the significance of energy saving day by day and making attempts to make our home more energy efficient than ever, this typical insulating measure is worth considering. Recent surveys have reinforced our assumption that most of the energy burning in intended for either cooling or heating inside. More than 50% of your energy bills are accumulated for restoring comfort level and warmth irrespective of changes of weather outside.
Loft insulation process simply implies filling up gaps with materials such as rock wool, cellulose, fiberglass and even soybeans that slow down or block heat. To keep both your house and pocket comfortable, there is no better options than installing loft insulating process. Moreover, once insulated done properly with recommended thickness of 270mm of mineral wool, the insulation remains effective in controlling heat flow for at least four decades. If better materials are used and better ways are adopted to insulate your house, more effectual insulation will be likely in restoring warmth and saving money in future and more energy. Because, better loft insulation ensures lesser consumption of home energy as you are not much required to switch on your air conditioner or heater when your house is capable of holding warmth for itself with insulated loft.
Apart from ensuring comfort level and warmth inside, your household backed up with proper loft insulation accumulates less carbon dioxide with reduced amount of energy burning. Reduced producing of CO2 alleviates risks of global warming which is a serious threat to existence of human kind and animal kingdom. Hence, if you are seriously concerned about saving energy and our saving our planet earth to witness severe effects of global warming including, drying up of its water content, radical climate change – it is high time to consider loft insulation process.
Loft insulation must be done with professionals who use few hours, in depth knowledge and dedicated equipment that install insulation by blowing loose and fire resistant materials to the loft. Several websites are assisting in receiving loft insulation grants to cover up either partial or full costs – hence, it is easy and effective for environ of your home and of the planet.

When will the next generation of solar energy systems hit the markets, highly efficient and cheap?
I see a lot of new solar panel technologies being created and manufactured, some up to 80% … when will these come onto the general market, cheap??
should I buy an ordinary home solar energy setup now? or will it be superseded by something 5 times cheaper and efficient in 3 years??
Just in two years where i live, a PV solar system has dropped by 40% in price
I see china is cranking up its scienctific research and will lead the world in these technologies in a short time
be will it, soon?
Nanosolar and first solar are selling panels rated at 1 dollar per watt. Thats about 4 times cheaper tha anything on the market, although i have seen chinese vendors offering poly-Si panels at 2-2.5 dollars per watt.
1 dollar per watt is similar to the costs of coal fired generation, but you wont be buying these panels anytime soon. They are sold only to power utilities. Demand is high and there are no surpluses for individual consumers. One day, as production expands, there will be.
