Why doesn’t the US government simply offer a 1 billion dollar tax-free prize for those who develop solar power
Why doesn’t the US government simply offer a 1 billion dollar tax-free prize for those who develop solar power?
I know we have certain degrees of solar energy usage going on now, but why aren’t going for the big ticket winner for everyone here and even for the world? Why aren’t we trying to prod and persuade scientist and corporations to go after this with a really big, savory carrot like a 1 billion dollar tax-free grand prize for finding a solar or fuel cell alternative that is relatively cheap and could power a vast majority of homes and vehicles in the USA?
If that isn’t a demand for something, I don’t know what is…
And don’t tell me we can’t afford it either. If we can billions of dollars out of nowhere to issue tax-refund checks, space programs to Mars, and pointless wars/occupations in Iraq, then we can fund this worthwhile and beneficial incentive.
Your idea is excellent.
However, the reality is that very powerful and influential people control governments, media, education, etc. These people are not interested in solar power simply because the energy potential from the sun is “free”.
Henry Kissinger is famous (or infamous) for saying: “… Control oil and you control nations; control food and you control people.”
Have you noticed in the headlines recently about concern of food shortages? (rice)
If you want to know the dirty truth about why this is so… read read, read. Because Hollywood, the media (both print and broadcast) are controlled.
It’s very unfortunate what has come to be. But it’s not surprising due to the control of the media. (As well as many Americans more focused on the wrong things.)

Growing concerns over global warming and depletion of natural resources are engulfing our planet. We are slowly waking up to the need of protecting our eco-system. Several “green” measures are been adopted by companies to lower future environmental implications. The list of steps includes using green alternatives against fossil fuels and harnessing the power of the sun to generate electricity.
Individuals are also getting keener towards contributing something “eco-friendly” to ensure there aren’t any negative impacts on the environment. It’s certainly a positive sign to see people using solar-powered appliances and solar electric systems to save whatever little naturals resources we have.
Solar installers are getting worldwide recognition and with efficient system design, installation and maintenance solutions they are working as perfect foil to help us benefit from turnkey environment-friendly energy solutions.
There are several advantages of using solar electric systems, these include:
Selecting the Best of Solar Installers:
To avail the benefits of renewable source of energy, one needs to install solar electric panels using the help of expert solar installers. These companies provide photovoltaic solar integration and other solar solutions to maximize the benefits of solar energy. They provide expert services to residential and commercial areas, including:
Advantages of Installing Solar Electric Systems:
For residential areas, installing solar electric systems during sunny days guarantee more electricity in the house. Any surplus electricity will cause the electric meter to run backwards, which will help to save more electricity. Commercial areas are in better advantage as a solar electric system reduces operational costs, minimizes the price spent on electricity, reduces the wear and tear of machines and builds a positive corporate image in the minds of the investors.

Rebate on New Efficient Furnace?
I received a rebate from my Energy company in the amount of $325 for the installation of an energy-efficient home furnace. Do I need to report this rebate on my taxes as income?
I paid ~2400 for the furnace and its installation. Will I be able to use 30% of that entire $2400 as a tax Credit. Thanks for your advice!
1. the rebate reduces what you paid.
2. Your 30% credit would be based on $2075. Max of $622.50 If you pay that much or more in tax, you would get the credit (unless you used it in 2009).
You also must have the manufacturer certification that the furnace is high end. Frankly, $2400 doesn’t sound high end.
